When transitioning between floors of the same height, our T-moldings offer a refined solution. Crafted from your flooring material, they cover expansion gaps and provide a clean, continuous look that maintains the integrity of your design.
Floating floors have to be able to move. That means expansion gaps at doorways and across long runs, and something has to cover them. A T-molding is the piece that does it. Made from the same planks as the floor on either side, it reads as part of the floor rather than as a strip laid across it — which is the difference between a doorway you notice and one you don't.

Ordering t-moldings, step by step.

Confirm the heights match
T-molding is for floors at the same level. If there's a step between them, you need a reducer instead.

Measure the gap and the opening
We need the width of the expansion gap and the full width of the doorway.

Bring your material in
Offcuts from either floor, or both if they differ.

Common Questions
Questions we're asked about t-moldings.
Do I need a T-molding at every doorway?
For floating floors, generally yes — the floor has to be free to move, and manufacturers usually require it to keep the warranty valid. Glued-down and nailed floors are a different case. Your installer will know, and so will the flooring manufacturer's instructions.
Can you match two different floors that are the same height?
The molding is milled from one material, so it matches one side and sits cleanly against the other. Most people match whichever floor is more prominent from the main living space.
Will it stay put?
Yes. T-moldings fit into a track fastened to the subfloor, which holds them securely while still letting the flooring move underneath.
