Calgary is home. Cool Returns has been making custom flooring accessories here for over fifteen years, from a family workshop that started with Jim and Sharon and is now run alongside their sons. Every vent, nosing, reducer and T-molding we make is cut from a customer's own flooring — which is why ours match and the ones on the shelf at the big-box store never quite do.

What we see in Calgary homes

No other city in the province has quite Calgary's spread of housing stock, and it shows up in our order book every week. The inner-city character homes through Mount Royal, Elbow Park and Hillhurst tend to have narrow-strip oak and duct openings in sizes that stopped being standard decades ago — those are the jobs where a stock register simply does not exist in the right size. The 1970s and 80s suburbs out through Willow Park, Braeside and Dalhousie are mid-renovation right now, usually replacing carpet with engineered plank and discovering the transitions and stair noses are the hard part. And the newer communities in the far north and south — Evanston, Livingston, Mahogany, Auburn Bay, Cranston — are almost all wide-plank engineered or luxury vinyl on open-plan main floors, where you can stand in the kitchen and see six or seven registers at once. That is the situation flush vents were invented for.

Getting to us

Our shop is at 262 Poplar Hill Drive in northwest Calgary, and that is where every job starts and finishes: you bring your flooring to us, and you collect the finished pieces from us when they're ready. We don't run a delivery service and we don't work out of a van — everything is made here. Working in our own city means we can be quick about it, and most Calgary orders turn around within a week of your material reaching the shop. We deal directly with homeowners, flooring contractors, installers and designers across every quadrant, from the inner-city infills to the new builds past Stoney Trail.
